Professor Leanne Fleming, Director

Leanne Fleming is Professor of Clinical Sleep Research and Director of the Strathclyde Sleep Centre at the University of Strathclyde. Her research focuses on the aetiology, maintenance and treatment of insomnia disorder using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She is particularly interested in the interaction between sleep and mental health, and a key focus of her work is supporting people with cancer to sleep well during and beyond cancer treatment.

Professor Leanne Fleming awarded Stephen Young Award for Outstanding Business Idea Research Paper

Strathclyde Sleep Centre Director, Professor Leanne Fleming, was recently presented with the Stephen Young Award for Outstanding Business Research Paper at the Strathclyde Inspire Summit in May 2025.

This is the first time that this award has been presented to anyone in the Department of Humanities and Social Science. Thus, this is a massive achievement, and reflective of Professor Fleming’s high-quality and impactful research.

With the Stephen Young Award, Professor Fleming will receive £50,000 to begin the process of commercialising her research.
