Declan M. McLaren, Research Associate

Declan M. McLaren joined the Strathclyde Sleep Centre in February 2025, after completing is PhD in post-stroke insomnia, at the University of Glasgow. Currently, he is Research Associate for the INVEST Trial, investigating behavioural interventions for insomnia in people with breast cancer.

Mr McLaren’s research focuses on the impact, assessment, and treatment of insomnia disorder across various oncological and neurological conditions. His work involves understanding the complex aetiologies of insomnia disorder existing co-morbidly with other conditions, how to improve clinical assessment and intervention strategies, and the interactions between sleep and broader health and wellbeing outcomes. Mr McLaren is particularly passionate about public engagement and making scientific research accessible and impactful.
