Dr Kirsten Russell
I am a Lecturer in Psychology and joined the Strathclyde Sleep Centre in 2022. Prior to this, I was a Researcher for Police Scotland. My research focuses primarily on the factors which increase and decrease an individual’s risk of engaging in or experiencing self-harm, with a particular focus on sleep. I have examined on the role of sleep disturbance within the pathway to self-harm thoughts and behaviours and have sought to better understand the psychological processes underpinning this link. To date, most of this work has focused on adolescent and student populations.
