Xavier Chan, Post Graduate Researcher
Hi, I’m Xavier and I’m a first year PhD student at the Sleep Centre Strathclyde. My doctoral research is on improving access to digital sleep interventions, such as cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia, through their implementation in public libraries. It is the hope of this research to overcome a digital divide in sleep treatments, benefiting individuals with limited internet or technological access, or the skills required to use these. This fits more broadly within my interest in systematic inequalities in mental health care and how such inequalities can be overcome.
Awards:
- SGSSS PhD Studentship
- European Insomnia Network 2025 – Poster Prize

I was very pleased to have been awarded the (first ever!) poster prize for the European Insomnia Network Conference 2025. This was awarded for my poster being visually engaging, accessible, and on an important and interesting topic. I’m grateful to have been able to attend such a lovely and welcoming conference!
